National Heavy Horse Show

Once again the SHSA put on a great show open to all heavy horse breeds. We had lots of fun catching up with people and competing with Darkmoor Jester and Darkmoor Jazz. Jester was a last minute sub in for another horse on our show team and we were very lucky our wonderful farrier Wesley Stewart agreed to come in at 6am to shoe him. Jester was his usual unflappable self, despite not having been out since April last year. He spent his time ringside napping, snuggling with children and trying to lick a yapping Kelpie puppy (yes, seriously!) before going out to win First Place Gelding Over Four, Best...

Jessie foals Versace

We’re very happy to announce Wyee Jessica foaled another beautiful black colt with four white socks. Jessica surprised us with a very civilised, problem free early afternoon foaling. We’ve named him Darkmoor Versace. He’s as friendly, playful and spunky as all of Jess’s colts. Versace has lovely movement, a great temperament and excellent conformation. He’ll be for sale to the right home after weaning.

Dainty foals Darkmoor Adele

Dainty delivered us a beautiful filly on 6th November. We were on alert for problems as this is Dainty’s first foal, but she delivered without difficulty and took to mothering right away. Archie and Dainty are a great match and have produced a lovely foal. We’ve named her Adele. Adele looks like she will mature into a lovely rich dark bay and has very similar markings to her sire. She’s got great legs, expressive movement and the most beautiful temperament.

Maggie foals Darkmoor Phoenix

We are absolutely over the moon to be able to welcome Darkmoor Phoenix into the world. Phoenix is by Darkmoor da Vinci, out of Maggie. For those of you who don’t recall, Maggie underwent major surgery in January of this year and she was not expected to hold her pregnancy through the stress of the anaesthetic, surgery and recovery. Much to our delight, she remained in foal and has delivered us this very special baby. Bay with four white socks and a beautiful temperament, Phoenix is a very flashy foal and we look forward to watching him grow.

Felicity foals Darkmoor Rembrandt

Felicity foaled another lovely black colt by Darkmoor da Vinci on 11th September. He’s a huge foal and Felicity had some trouble getting him out, but we gave her a bit of help and both mare and foal are doing very well. We’ve named him Darkmoor Rembrandt. He’s a very leggy colt so should make a great riding or harness horse. Being black and with all that bling, he’s bound to stand out wherever he goes. We know of no other Shire like him in Australia. Remy absolutely loves people and is a visitor favourite already.

Emily foals Darkmoor Elizabeth

Emily foaled us another absolutely beautiful black filly to Wyee Archer on 5th September. We’ve named her Darkmoor Elizabeth after a close friend who was delighted to experience her first foaling with Emily & Elizabeth. Elizabeth is big, sweet and playful just like her sister Jazz. Emily is a great mum and we’re thrilled she’s given us a full sister to Darkmoor Jazz, who has enjoyed quite a bit of show success already.

Sydney Royal 2015

Sydney Royal Easter Show 2015 We had another wonderful year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. It was fantastic to, once again, be a part of such an awesome team. We consider ourselves very lucky to be surrounded by so many amazing people. A big thank you to Ingleside Shires, Kate Williams, Annette Robinson, Liz Williams, Sarah Dooley, Jess van den Dries and Somone Landry. We took Darkmoor Jester, Darkmoor Jazz & Darkmoor Lady Elegance with us. All three of them are young and relatively inexperienced as show horses, but they handled the atmosphere of such a big show very well and we’re...

Goulburn Show 2015

Goulburn Show 2015 We had another a lovely day out at Goulburn Show this year. Their heavy horse program has been expanded and they’ve really got a lot going on! We took Darkmoor Jazz & Darkmoor Lady Elegance, so were only entered in the led classes. Both of the girls handled the outing exceptionally well and placed first and second in the Shire Filly Under Two class, respectively. Jazz went on to win Champion Shire, which we’re absolutely delighted with.
