In October 2012 we welcomed Darkmoor da Vinci to our stud. We are particularly excited about da Vinci, who we have retained as a stallion.
Darkmoor da Vinci is black with four white socks, has great conformation, a lovely temperament and excellent bloodlines. His grandsires are Moorfield Edward, an English Super Premium stallion who is arguably the best stock getter of the past 20 years; and Trelow Father Abraham, another English Super Premium stallion, who was an excellent sire here in Australia as well as in England prior to export.
His first outing as a foal was to Crookwell Agricultural show, where he won Reserve Champion Shire. He followed up with Champion Colt/Stallion at the Canberra Royal and finished the year with 2nd Place Colt Under 2 Years at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
In 2014 da Vinci won 1st Place Stallion and Reserve Champion Shire at Goulburn show in a strong field of Shires. He finished the year with 2nd Place Colt Under 2 Years at Sydney Royal Easter Show.
da Vinci started off his 2016 show season with a bang, taking out Supreme Champion Shire and Grand Champion Heavy Horse at Bungendore show. He followed that up with Champion Shire at St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days and then Champion Stallion at the CCHS National Heavy Horse Foal & Harness Show.
Darkmoor da Vinci’s first three foals were born in 2015, with another three born in 2016. We’re thrilled with his progeny and have been delighted by the number of out outside mares booked in to visit him this season.
da Vinci stands at stud for both live cover and chilled semen – for more information on breeding with him click here.
